Hi All,
Emmett played soccer on a team for the first time and really enjoyed it. He
is also playing roller hockey (there is no ice in Santa Barbara, we have to
drive about 45 minutes to Oxnard for him to play ice hockey; and there is
no real league for kids his age). He got a BMX bike and rides a course near
our house a couple times a week. Oh, and yes, he still has time for school!
Petra is playing on her high school soccer team. She is a sophomore this
year and is playing on the JV team. Her high school is much bigger than her
school in Shaker and so takes some getting used to.
Sana is getting used to living in Santa Barbara and is spending a lot of
time looking for houses to buy. We are renting for the time-being and
should be getting a house in the next few months. There isn't that much on
the market, and what is on the market is expensive! Mainly 2 or 3 bedroom
tear-downs for a million or so.
Peter is still cycling a lot, needless to say, the biking is fantastic in
Santa Barbara. Some big hills to climb and the weather is great.
Anyway, we hope this finds you all well and enjoying the holidays. We hope
you will find the time to come for a visit. All the best for the New Year.
Just a quick note to tell you about events over the year. As many of you
know, we have moved to Santa Barbara. Peter took a new position as a
Professor of Economics at UC Santa Barbara. Everyone misses their friends
back in Shaker Heights. And, we all felt that Christmas just wasn't the
same without some snow on the ground and temps in the 30's. Instead we had
a bit of a dust storm (or ashes maybe from a fire in the summer) and it was
about 75 degrees.
Peter, Sana'a, Petra and Emmett.
